Book cover posters February 1, 2011

Some book covers have such fantastic art on them, that you sometimes wish there was a poster of it. The company ‘Bookish Design UK’ obviously thought the same and made this wish come true. They do not offer a whole lot of posters of book covers, but I am sure there will be more to come. You can order the posters over the internet, but there is also a list of stores across the world where you can buy them. The company also makes some bookish t-shirts, by the way.

MP3 player shaped like a book January 25, 2011

I love the design of this MP3 player! It seems a bit big if you compare it with the popular devices, but when placed next to a book (as below) it is not too bad. Anyhow, you cannot really go wrong for $23. A nice present for a book lover, I would think.

A ‘real’ MacBook January 21, 2011

No. There is nothing wrong with the look of a MacBook. The design is nice and sleek. I just does not really look like a Book, now does it? The solution is near! With this cover, the laptop looks quite the part. Even better: you protect it from damage too. I want one! If I owned a MacBook…

Books and wine September 18, 2009

As someone who enjoys the good things in life, I enjoy good books. And good wine. Sometimes the two work really well together too! For other lover’s of a good glass of vino, I found these bookish gadgets.

I love this wine set! A perfect gift for a wine loving reader. The set consists of three pieces: a bottle opener, a stopper and a little booklet. The latter gives information about the right temperature for certain wines and the cheeses that can compliment the different wines. This makes it even better. As a Dutch girl, I lóve my cheese! The whole set comes in a case that looks like a hardcover book. Wanna know more? Click here.

What to think of these bookends that double up as a wine rack? I’m not quite sure where I would put them. I am pretty sure you can make a nice feature out of them in a nice country style kitchen. (Which I do not have.) The book ends would look great with  nice books about wine in between them. To find out more, click here.

Burning Book July 29, 2009

Filed under: Books about Books,Gifts,Handy,Miscellaneous — Kim @ 12:39 am

It is my worst nightmare to see my books go up into flames, but this bookmark is quite fun! A great way to mark the page of the hot book you are reading. Click here to find out more. This bookmark reminds me of the famous book by Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451. A couple of days ago a new adaption of this book came out, authorised by Bradbury. To learn more about this book, go here.

Of course there are people on there that make fantastic bookish things. Below I will state some of the things I found. I do not know how long the products will be on there, so do forgive me when a link dies in the future.

Take this paperweight for instance. (Click here to go to the Etsy page.) Click on ‘more’ to see more of my finds…

If you are looking for an original gift (for a book lover) a personalized book might be an idea. There are several websites which provide this service. Usually you can choose a book of your liking. You can then choose one or more names that you want to have featured in this book. Below you will find a small selection of websites that provides this type of book. If you have any books or experience with personal books to add, please do so in the comments.

A2Z Personalized Children’s Books

You can choose out of 150 books for children. There are also some titles available for adults. All the books are hardcover and it will cost between twelve and fifteen dollars to have a book made.

A Dutch website that has a choice of books in different themes. You can also choose children’s books and books by The Netherlands most popular crime writer, Appie Baantjer. It is also possible to pick by price.

For your home library April 12, 2008

How cute! This will look so good on the new table in my new library. It will be a useless accessory, since I almost never lend out my books. I always get them back damaged. Paperbacks usually have a ‘broken back’ when they are returned to me. I hate that. Therefor I have decided not to let other people handle my books anymore. But this gadget is very nice, I have to say. Click here to find out more.
