Librarian action figure December 31, 2006

It’s wacky! It’s weird. And therefore I love it! An actual action figure of a librarian. The model is based on a real live person. Since I am Dutch, I have never heard of her. You might! Nancy Pearl is the woman who modelled for the doll. She travels the United Stated to speak about her love for books. You can read the story about it here.

Nancy comes in a ‘normal’ and a ‘deluxe’ version. The normal version comes with the doll dressed in a blue suit (5 inches tall, 12,7 cm) and some books. The books include “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, “More Book Lust”, and “The Darwin Awards”. When you pull her arm down and press the button on her back she says: “Shhh!”.

The deluxe version also comes with the doll, this time in a red suit, and books. But it also includes a book cart on which you can place the books. There is also a miniature computer included, so she can reference your search. The company also has action figures of famous writers like Dickens and Shakespeare.

I went to a session here in my local city (Brisbane, Australia) just before Christmas where Nancy Pearl spoke. She was great to listen to and her memory for books is absolutely amazing! Well worth tracking down if she ever heads your way.

I went to the same session (Hi Aleonblue!! Waving!) and she’s amazing. She has a website… and a wiki

    She would love this site.

I would love to hear what she thinks of it… Anyone got her e-mail? Haha.
