I’m an amazing blogger! January 22, 2008

Filed under: Meme — kimbooktu @ 11:56 pm

At least, that is what Kylie of Kylie’s Book Nook thinks. Thank you so much for your kind words about this blog and for the meme, Kylie! The meme beholds that I “have to confess seven weird or random facts about myself”. Okay. I will try to make them different from a similar meme I did before. (To be found here.)

Here it goes. It saves me the trouble of making a card and sending it to PostSecret, which is one of my favorite blogs. Haha!

1. I like to work on this blog very late at night. Sometimes even in and/or until the early morning. I like the peace and quite of the night.

2. I have Reiki level I and II. (If you do not know what it is, or like to learn more, click here.)

3. When I was young, everybody loved Vanilla Ice and the other popular music of that era. I listened to Kate Bush.

4. It is my birthday in a couple of minutes. I was born on January 23. 1979.

5. At the moment, one of my best friends is someone I never met. We correspond very extensive about our love for books and reading.

6. I feel so proud that so many people like my blog.

7. As a little girl, I promised myself I would own a Mercedes car at some point in my life.

That’s it folks! Now you know everything about me. The person(s) I would like to tag as an Amazing Blogger is… Ivan and Sonja of Bookstore Guide. Now they have to come up with the seven facts! I think they are amazing bloggers, with a fantastic website. Do check out their blog!

At last… Kimbooktu’s Meme! September 26, 2007

Filed under: Meme — kimbooktu @ 9:41 pm

Since everybody is doing meme’s, Kimbooktu could not stay behind, haha. Seriously, I have been wondering how everybody has come up with a meme. They are so creative! I have tried my hardest to come up with a fun bookish meme. I hope you like it!

I tag these five bloggers, which I have randomly picked from the Bookish Blog Links A-Z: Bibliophile Bullpen, Chronicle Books Blog, Naked Without Books!, So Many Books and last but not least: Try Harder.

1. Hardcover or paperback, and why?

2. If I were to own a book shop I would call it…

3. My favorite quote from a book (mention the title) is…

4. The author (alive or diseased) I would love to have lunch with would be ….

5. If I was going to a deserted island and could only bring one book, except from the SAS survival guide, it would be…

6. I would love someone to invent a bookish gadget that….

7. The smell of an old book reminds me of….

8. If I could be the lead character in a book (mention the title), it would be….

9. The most overestimated book of all times is….

10. I hate it when a book….

What to do next: the five tagged bloggers chosen by me have to tag five other bloggers. Those bloggers have to answer the above questions and so forth. I cannot wait to see your answers…

Book Cover Meme September 9, 2007

Filed under: Meme — kimbooktu @ 4:04 am

There is a new bookish meme on the block! The idea behind this one, is quite nice. Pretty Good on Paper tagged me. The idea came from Cavan, who thought it would be interesting to do a meme on book covers. My mission was simple: enter your first name in Amazon and choose the first book that is most interesting or amusing.

Before I entered my name, I knew what book would come up. You might have guessed it. It is this one:

The book is about a boy, who is actually called Kimball ‘O Hara. You can learn more about the book here. Now I will tag three bookish bloggers to do the same (go to Amazon, type your name, choose the first book that seems interesting).

I choose: Austen-tatious, because I am so curious to learn her first name. Next is the author of Wormbook, because I cannot imagine a book with the name Ellen in it. Last I tag Sylvia of the Classical Bookworm, just to see if Sylvia Plath comes up.

8 random things about me May 22, 2007

Nick from the blog Literary Compass has tagged me with “Eight random things about me”. So here we go.

1. I do not watch much television series, but I am addicted to NCIS.

2. My second biggest dream is translating a novel from English into Dutch.

3. During the winter I sleep with my socks on.

4. Next to books, I collect boxes and geisha memorabilia.

5. I think The Davinci Code is a highly overrated book.

6. My favorite color is pink.

7. The first poem I learned by heart was “Oh captain, my captain” by Walt Whitman (see photo), after seeing the film “Dead poets society”.

8. I worked at The British Museum when I lived in London for six months in 2004.

Now it is my time to tag. I tag these eight bloggers, click on the title of the blog to take a look: Patricia from Booklust, Chris from book-a-rama, Amy from Books, Words, and Writing, Lore from Literary Craving, Shaun from The Book Inscriptions Project, Molly from Restless Reader, Clary from The Book’s Den and Rachel from The Laminal Librarian. They have to go by these rules.

Thinking Blogger Award April 12, 2007

Filed under: Meme — kimbooktu @ 2:35 pm

Christina from the blog book-a-rama has nominated this blog for the Thinking Blogger Award! The article can be found here. Thank you so much for nominating Kimbooktu, Christina! This means, I get to nominate “5 blogs that make me think” myself. (Click here to learn more.) I gave it some good thought.

Here are the 5 blogs that I nominate for a Thinking Blog Award. They are not all bookish, by the way. Click on the names to go to the websites.

PostSecret. This blog always gets me thinking about my life and thoughts. It’s my first stop every Sunday.

De papieren man. A great Dutch blog that keeps me informed on the latest (Dutch) bookish news.

50 Books. I love her sense of humor in the very well written articles.

BookLust. Fun and informative bookish news and articles on a very clean looking and easy on the eye blog.

Books, Words and Writing. Also a finalist in the 2006 Best of Blogs. (Good Luck!) Always interesting articles and lists related with not only books, but also with writing.

The authors of these blogs also get to nominate five blogs that make them think. They have to go by the following rules, though:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think

2. Link to the thinking blogger post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the memo

3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote. Click here for a silver banner and here for a gold one.
